Karmic Cycles
Every now and then things happen when I least expect them to and make me realise that we all have our Karmic stories to live out. People come into our lives and events transpire despite our best intentions. No matter how well prepared we are, there are consequences we never imagine, reactions we can never factor so even though I do not really like to live my life by what the stars foretell, I am often faced with circumstances that lead me to believe that perhaps our lives are dictated by external forces after all………
An August Forecast
While many people eulogize the monsoon, singing praises to the cool breezes, the stormy seas, the hots cups of chai and spicy bhajias, the roasted bhuttas by Marine Drive, walks in the pelting rain and the occasional weekday holiday days thanks to flooded streets I find there’s a flip side too: the puddles on the road that make your toes squishy and crinkly, surfaces that are coated with a thin, barely discernible skin that is damp to the touch, washing that’s left to dry all over the house, buckets and pails to collect the drip from leaky ceilings, flies of every size and shape buzzing around, vegetable markets that are mucky and yucky and of course those days of the deluge when the water is waist high and everyone is house bound……….So when Hubby Dear announced that times were really bad till the 5th of August ( at least for him ) I wondered what could go wrong in my life which has already been unimaginably topsy turvy since the beginning of the year……….
I didn’t have too long to find out – The first bit of bad news was Bayda’s announcement that she needed a monsoon break. So off she went to her rain starved village for an expandable six day break. Then, I found that the washing machine also went on an extended wash program and unless I manually operated it, would have run on and on and on for 24 hours! The lights on the water filter started flashing which meant that I had to quickly change the candle and whatever else that filtered out the bad germs and what was most calamitous was the fact that the Internet was on the blink………….
