She ran to her with hands outstretched
And grabbed her mother’s hand.
Looking up she shyly said
I love you 5 Mama.
Is that all? the mother asked
The child, she shook her head.
But that’s my whole hand she said
And that was all her world.
Then she learnt to count to 100
And forgot she ever had a mother
Each time the mother saw her hand
She couldn’t help but see
A little girl who held her once
I love you 5 she said
