Just a week away from home and I felt I was coming back to an alien land! I was quite amazed at this Amul hoarding that was on Peddar Road and wondered what all the fuss was about till my friend Su clarified that Maango People meant aam aadmi. 

WOW! That was clever I thought. Who’d ever imagine a guy like Robert Vadra actually having a sense of humour???? Or even the ability to pun?  We seem to have a new punny man in our midst to give the Gandhi’s something to smile about what with all the scams that are being unearthed on a daily basis.

Honestly our politicians are getting from bad to simply unbelievable. I was astonished at the  titters and laughter that Beni Prasad’s remark provoked ” 71 lacs is too small an amount for a minister to bother with.” Well, I suppose he is right considering that big bucks is all that people are talking about – crores in multiples over multiple accounts and multiple deals. It is simply mind boggling the infinite number of crores that are there to be skimmed off.

And if there are really that many crores to go around why aren’t the mango men getting even a mere trickle? Considering the sky rocketing prices of everything these days, it won’t be long before we are no longer a banana republic with this plebeian fruit becoming out of reach for the mango people.
