Last year a series of events has led me to believe that when you tell a lie often enough it becomes the truth.
Telling lies is a genetic trait passed on from father to son much like a legacy or inheritance. There are families of congenital liars and generations display this trait.
If a family of liars inducts a non-liar into their fold, there is bound to be a conflict so in most cases they prefer to maintain the peace by marrying other liars.
While I am no George Washington, I find this ease of lying simply amazing. For instance, today while going down in the crowded elevator, I met a person who I knew had gone out of town for a holiday. One of the passengers inquired after her and asked what she was up to these past few days. Without thinking even for a moment, she put on a suitably sad face and said that she was out of town as she had to go to look after a sick relative. She looked so sorry and desolate that immediately there were platitudes passed around and I was left marveling at with the ease with which she spun this yarn on the fly………..
