Welcome to my world.

My blog is one place where I can be myself without worrying about my voice being too loud, my laugh too raucous or my ideas too weird.

Cut Hair, cut care

Happiness is a great haircut.

Cleaning out cupboards is as great a therapy as is cutting hair. I always feel that chopping off those locks can chop away the problems that have been plaguing me! Unfortunately last November I lost my mobile phone in Pune which meant I lost all my contacts since all the numbers were on that instrument! Then a series  of events prevented my head from thinking straight which is why it took me so long to figure out how to contact my hairdresser and get an appointment.

Z is one of those hairdressers whose little parlour in the middle of Colaba instantly transports you to the 50’s with its old world feel. She operates by word of mouth and is very choosy about the people whose hair she cuts. She only takes on clients who have been referred to her and absolutely refuses walk ins from off the road! This makes it all the harder to track her down the normal way (by opening up a phone book which initself has become  redundant thanks to mobile phones) and I had to wait quite a while till my brains began to function again and found out the number.

Last week I realised that I needed to cut off my shaggy locks which were beginning to weigh me down. After a year of bad hair, I finally managed to contain the hair fall and revive some traces of my glory days and even though the hair had finally grown past my shoulders, they had sadly grown out of the cut……….But all that was sorted out and this afternoon when  Anna Shetty and I went to Z’s for an afternoon of indulgence and pampering. Within minutes Z assessed our hair and decided that while my hair just needed a wash and a cut, Anna Shetty’s  could do with a dose of deep conditioning before a wash and cut. So as I settled down to my hair cut, Anna Shetty had a cup of coffee while the Wella Hair Mask did its work. It was comforting to sit in those huge cane arm chairs and listen to Z’s gentle, husky voice,  familiar songs in the back ground as Z’s scissors wielded its magic with a snip here and a snip there before finally being blow dried to leave two ladies feeling spoilt and special.

Thank you Z for the foxy  hair!
