Time and tide they say waiteth for no man. How often we take refuge in the excuse that we had no time to do something or it wasn’t possible to do something when the actual fact remains that we just don’t want to do that thing.
” I couldn’t come to see you because I didn’t have a car”
” I didn’t come to see you because I didn’t have the time”
These and several other lame excuses are slicked over with
” I promise I’ll come again when I have more time or when I have a car available”
Of course there are genuine reasons for not doing things on time but honestly where there’s a will there’s always a way. People find time to do the things they want to do and do them when they have to be done.
A father may tell his child “I’m really sorry I won’t be able to come home early for your birthday party but I promise you on Saturday I’ll take you to the Mall and you can buy whatever you want.”
Does this kind of delayed gratification really work?
It’s almost like skipping several meals and then gorging till bursting.
There is really no excuse for not doing things on time. The simple truth is that it was not important enough for you to make the time for it.
