Welcome to my world.

My blog is one place where I can be myself without worrying about my voice being too loud, my laugh too raucous or my ideas too weird.

Personally speaking

Chennai Express

What happens when a 40 year old Grandpa’s boy decides to finally rebel?

Watch “Chennai Express” to find out.

I happened to see Shah Rukh’s interview on ND TV and was inspired to see Chennai Express knowing full well that it was truly old wine in an old bottle. Shah Rukh’s newest release was definitely a no brainer with the usual hackneyed plot but since it was slated to be a satire and a a culling of all his earlier films, this was only to be expected. In fact I found it really clever how the entire movie references old movies and it is quite a brain teaser to jog your memory and find out which movie the song /dialogue refers to.

I did, however, enjoy the movie and actually found the dialogue funny enough to laugh out loud. While the plot is as meaningless as they come, the idea of singing dialogue was quite novel. The harrum scarrum story takes us all over the place , accompanied by a sound track that is quite catchy. The movie could have done with sharper editing particularly with the fight at the end of the movie which was not only pointless but sooooo long drawn out and absolutely idiotic.

But what is truly refreshing in this movie is the decidedly un Punjabiness which makes it a welcome change from Bollywood’s hackneyed Masala packages.

Verdict : A must see for a rainy afternoon.
