Strange are the ways of the Universe. Today is World Toilet Day, a fact that was brought to my notice almost at the end of the day when I managed to look at the newspaper.

Just this morning I was sitting in my bathroom, closeted with my thoughts and thanking my stars for having the luxury of this private time in a very private space.

My small little 5′ x7′ toilet assumes magnanimous proportions when I sneak out a few moments in my very busy day. How many people cherish this space I thought?

• teenagers who used it for a secret smoke, 
• girls/boys who use it to make calls to their undesirable girl/boyfriend,
• busy people who just grab a little time to read a few pages of a novel or grab a few lines of the newspaper before getting absorbed in a busy day
• avid readers who actually have a library on the flush tank
