Many years ago our Municipal Corporation launched a cleanliness campaign with the slogan
“HELP! KEEP MUMBAI CLEAN”
Seeing this message plastered boldly over bus stops and on the garbage trucks, I always questioned the position of the exclamation mark.
Did this message warn us or did it implore us to keep the city clean?
Whatever the punctuation mark, the message is lost because there’s no help coming in keeping the city any cleaner.
