For some strange reason I have always got up at the crack of dawn even though I’ve lived in a town all my life and never had a cow to milk. Of course we did have a family dog who needed to be let out in the morning and taken for a walk before we left for school but that could have very well be left for a little later in the day. But I suppose my parents having been brought up with an early morning wake up call transferred that habit on to their children as a result of which I just have to get up at the crack of dawn no matter what. This waking up early in the morning not only became a habit but I also used to wonder how people could sleep beyond 6 am ( the latest I’ve woken up) and how they could manage their day getting up so late.
So this morning I refused to open my eyes till the sun actually came right into my room. When I finally did wake up and get out of bed it was all of 7.30 am and I was thrilled that I finally did it! But this thrill of moving the goalpost further in the day didn’t last long when I realised that half the day was over and a whole load of jobs still needed to be done!
Truly there is something to be said for waking up and seizing the day. The sense of calm and peace early in the morning helps in sorting out your head and setting a road map for the day ahead and this is truly the last time I’ll ever stay in bed longer than I’m used to.
