This evening I went for a stroll down the road mainly to find an umbrella for Wow Dinga. Obviously it was like looking for a needle in a haystack because all umbrellas have miraculously flown off the shelves. Miraculously because last week’s Rakhees are still visible in some shops……But of course I wanted a specific children’s umbrella, one which is not too big and which has rounded edges so that Wow doesn’t poke his eye and more importantly anyone else’s.

So naturally I came home disappointed but equally surprised to find that Crossword the oh so popular bookstore at Kemps Corner is being down sized and its neighbour is yet another haute couture store with an equally fancy and imposing door :Shyamal & Bhumika join the ranks of stores like Jade, Kimaya and Amara making Peddar Road a destination for high end bridal trousseaux.

Alas, while Peddar Road is the ideal destination as far as the  target clientele goes, it has no space to park cars while shopping for anything leave alone clothes so it is not really the ideal place to go shopping particularly late in the afternoon when the roads are just choc-a-bloc with cars laden with people in a mad rush to go home!
