I was invited to a birthday party of a gracious old friend who also happens to have turned seventy five today. I first met her as a young bride when she was the neighbour next door. We spent several years as neighbours before she went away and I learnt a lot from her. So today when her daughter invited us to celebrate her birthday I readily agreed to go.
It was a small gathering of friends all old I age and association. Some went back as far as fifty years or more while one lady was a friend of the family for over seventy years having been at school with my mother in law. When I see friendships like this, I feel happy to know that there are some ties that survive the ups and downs, the highs the lows.
Friendships are the ties that bind.
