Monks and crows on Marine Drive

With Hubby Dear back in town, we decided to go for a walk on Sunday. It seemed as though many people had the similar idea as the promenade was more crowded than ever. Marine Drive which is quintessentially Mumbai always attracts hordes of tourists and I was surprised to see a group of saffron robes monks amongst them.

They looked pretty much at ease in their urban surroundings and on my way back I was surprised to see one of them taking selfies on his mobile phone! Obviously these monks are not too detached from the world.

The promenade has several vendors of roasted corn , spicy chana chor, gaudy pink candy floss and sickeningly sweet ice lollies. Despite the swachchbharat campaign ( in fact there were a few volunteers from an organisation promoting cleanliness but these girls did nothing apart from sporting their organisation’s jackets and gossiping in clusters ) there were some empty bottles and paper strewn around. It was no wonder then that these crows had a feast day on these leftovers.

I am linking this post to Write Tribe Pro Blogger Challenge . This wonderful group of bloggers is participating in a two week festival which sadly I can’t participate in because I will be caught up in my own festivities of a family wedding. However, from time to time I will visit my blogging friends and see what they have to write about especially since I will be in Bangalore over the weekend.
