It was the the first day of the year and the first Friday. I was at a pre-wedding function, the Mehndi, where the bride , her family and friends were having patterns of henna made on their hands. It was a cool Mumbai winter evening and we were on a rooftop terrace by the sea side.

Looking out across the bay I could see the arc of the Queen’s Necklace gently curving the bay.

In front , below me , was the famous Chowpatty beach with hundreds of people dotting the sands.

And in the distance beyond the skyscrapers on Malabar Hill , the sun slowly bade us goodbye, lighting up the sky with its golden glow

It was a spectacular Friday Sunset!
