Twenty- five Seven

Personally speaking

Being alone #FridayReflections

Loneliness is a word I’ve never heard

If there are 40 moments in an hour and 24 hours in a day

I’m alone for just a moment in a normal busy day.

I love the chaos amidst the order of waking, working , walking, eating

Sleeping , reading , talking , writing and a hundred other tasks that come my way.

So do I even wait to ponder what will I do when I’m alone?

I hardly ever have a moment just to call my very own.

And when I do I stop and think

A million thoughts that  dart around

Of all the things I’d like to do when I’m alone and on my own ….

Will I read a book from cover to cover? Savouring each word one by one?

Or paint a picture on a  canvas , and rediscover the colours of another world?

Will I walk a mile or two along the sea or in leafy lanes on hilly tract behind busy roads?

And revel in the solitude of measured step that keeps apace with gentle waves or song of birds.

Or seek the comfort of the darkened space of movie halls?

Munching pop corn, sipping Coke  lost in the magic make believe of celluloid.

I may take out my sewing box and mend a seam or knit a while

Or bake a cake. Or meditate

And ruminate on what I should have done or need to do.

Loneliness is a word unheard and something I will never know.

For I have lots to do and always will as long as this heart is beating still .

This is my response to This week’s Friday Reflections prompt

Write a poem or personal essay about what you do when you are alone – do you feel lonely or enjoy your own company

I’m also linking this post to Vidya Sury’s #GratitudeCircle. I’m really grateful for my busy days and all the people in my life who keep me busy .
