Welcome to my world.

My blog is one place where I can be myself without worrying about my voice being too loud, my laugh too raucous or my ideas too weird.

Personally speaking

Swallow

In normal times we take for granted

How easy is it to swallow

A bitter pill

A sweet compliment

But when you are just laid up in bed

Propped up by pillows

And your muscles slowly constrict

To make it hard to swallow

Just a drop of water

The throat is parched ,

The muscles tired

Having worked for years

The time has come for them to stop.

That is the hardest pill to swallow.

These thoughts came to mind when Sir Steven Hawking passed away. For years, the poor man was fed with a feeding tube because he couldn’t swallow.

Swallowing enhances the eating experience. As we take in the first morsel of food , the mouth responds to the coolness or hotness. It tasted the sweet , sour, salt or bitter. And finally after enjoying this experience of food , we swallow it down.

What a tragedy it must be to not be able to swallow.

  2. It frightens me to imagine the situation of people who have been robbed of such basic experiences of Life!
You have expressed your thoughts so beautifully, Sunita! Words that make you reflect on the little things in Life!

  3. What must have motivated Sir Steven Hawking take on difficult life and still love it til its end? At times I felt, he was far to happy to be alive. He was a man of different metal I suppose…
I thank Lord for sparing me… I wont have been able to swallow such a bitter pill.

  5. I worked with a woman, years ago, who lost both her father and her brother to ALS, or what we call Lou Gehrig’s disease here in the United States. It was incredible what Hawking did in his life (and that he did it with a disability that almost destroyed his ability to communicate with others). I can not imagine being locked into your body.

    1. yes I agree that is the worst kind of life to lead and indeed it was superhuman of Hawking to rise above all this and leave behind a legacy for generations to come
