This is supposed to be a quiet, upmarket residential area in the supposedly tony South Mumbai neighbourhood of Breach Candy.
Once upon a time this affluent area was filled with Europeans and wealthy Indians like Maharajas, merchants , business men and executives working in Multinational companies .
As for the streets, the only people seen walking were servants.
Today all that has changed .
Breach Candy is known for its CARS , street side hawkers and more cars .
Yet this area is home to many prestigious schools, a college, shops, and a HOSPITAL!!!!
There is NO place to park though both sides of the road have parked cars. The multi-storey car parking lot refuses to take small cars and is always full.
And yet there are more and more cars coming to this city each day.
Ironically the island city had a diminishing population but day by day the number of cars is increasing .
Paraphrasing Bob Dylan, I’d like to ask the powers that be
How many cars will it take till you know
That this city is getting impossible to live in ?
Hoping the Powers that Be have their listening ears on .
