Welcome to my world.

My blog is one place where I can be myself without worrying about my voice being too loud, my laugh too raucous or my ideas too weird.

Personally speaking

Thank God for the wrinkled hands!

Oh No! my hands are wrinkled

Wrinkled hands are a sign of aging.

But the wrinkles don’t come overnight. It is a slow insidious process.

I first found out my hand was aging when my engagement ring fitted snuggly on my Pinkie. After years of having my ring finger ballooning on either side of the twinkly diamonds, I decided to move the ring  to the little finger. And now it was getting snug for that too.

More was to come when I spotted the first wrinkle on my hand. Out came all the hand lotions onto my bedside table, dressing table and even near the kitchen sink.

But, gradually my hands became wrinkly and crinkly despite the various hand creams I so diligently applied.

Over the years I began using gloves to do work and even got a machine to do the clothes and dishes. It came to a point where I used my hands sparingly. Like bathing, dressing up, apply/ remove makeup. Of course, I also used them to type and eat . But basically I avoided using them for dirty work.

Yet the wrinkles didn’t stop.

Oh no! Where are the wrinkles?

Till last month when suddenly they became so smooth and turgid that my fingers looked like luscious Oxford sausages stuck on to a fat potato!

With my wrist encased in a cast and my shoulder operated upon, all the trauma descended to my hand.

“Pump your fingers into a fist ” roared Dr. D . “Else your hand will remain like this ”

I was terrified! Immediately I began looking for the smiley balls that the little ones had got from school .

“That’s mine’s , ” says Ms.Papaya,” but you can have it .”

“You can have mine too,” says Little Po. But this was promptly appropriated by Wow Dinga who like all boys thinks that balls are meant to be flung.

So for two weeks I have been diligently squeezing the ball every waking moment. While reading a book, while eating, while typing. By day end I’m quite exhausted. The ball doesn’t seem to yield.

But when I saw the first wrinkle on my hand I was thrilled! Finally, my hand is coming back.

Wrinkly hands were just the start of my recovery. There was more to come in the weeks ahead.

Happy weekend all

Ciao
