Personally speaking

Messages I received for #InternationalWomen’sDay

As everyone knows today is International Women’s Day.

And everyone says that every day is women’s day. There shouldn’t be a special day only for women .

Yet, we send each other messages and wish one another saying “ I don’t really believe in Women’s Day but Happy Women’s Day to you anyway”.

We send videos too where we claim that we don’t really need a women’s day

Hope you liked the messages I received today.

And whether it is today or every day, hope YOU have a lovely day .

Please note that my message is not gender specific. Nor is it caste, class or even species specific .

May everyone enjoy this long weekend !

Cheers !

Ciao

  1. I have tried not to respond to women’s day messages this year, but then saw the Google doodle and liked it. So ended up sharing it on FB.
    Happy Women’s Day to you

  2. I never understood the concept anyway… Why celebrate something that segments us off when we are fighting for equality?

  3. You know what the funny thing is, women themselves have to arrange everything for women’s day celebration. I listen to my sister crib about how she has to organize everything… and I am like – shouldn’t men be doing all the organization to commemorate the day.
I actually don’t have anything against the day. Women still are fighting for basic equality and this day is a reminder that we have to fight more to be called as equals. :)

    1. You know what ? I’m beginning to believe our grannies were smarter . They were unequal so they didn’t have to take on the responsibilities women are taking up now . Find me one professional woman who comes home after work, puts on the TV and reaches for a glass of beer while her husband who comes home the same time as her puts his bags away, rushes to hug the baby and dashed off to the kitchen to get the food on the table .
Our grannies sat at home and did ‘nothing’ while running the home ;)

  4. Loved both the videos and I am with you that every day is our day. We don’t need a day. Treat us as equals. A good post, Sunita.

  5. I am not a huge fan of all these “days” that keep cropping up. It just seems an endless brouhaha over something we dont even respect or seriously consider in our day to day life.
