Welcome to my world.

My blog is one place where I can be myself without worrying about my voice being too loud, my laugh too raucous or my ideas too weird.

Personally speaking

Squishy like Play-Doh

Keeping little ones out of mischief is tough. Especially when you take them out to dinner. You don’t want them running around the restaurants. Nor do you want them to play with the tableware.

Daughter No.1 has devised a wonderful way of keeping them occupied. She pulls out small tubs of Play-Doh and gives one to each child. They can spend hours literally squishing the moulding clay into shapes without dirtying themselves or the table.

But I myself have spent hours getting the Play-Doh out of a pile carpet. That can be hell. So it’s not exactly my favourite way to keep them occupied.

My attitude changed completely when one day Ms. Papaya cuddled up to me and squeezed my ample upper arm and said

“Aji you are like Play-doh. You’re so soft and squishy and you don’t ever get hard.”

Now every time I see some Play-Doh I actually feel some kinship and feel like giving it a nice, tight squeeze.

  1. Awww!!! this is so adorable..my son has recently saying this poem to me “my mom is a chalta firta momo but you cannot eat her unless you are a cannibal”..I don’t know where they get all these…Play doh was a nightmare for me when he was a kid. He used to stick it everywhere and getting it out was so difficult. They get so hard when dry.

  7. An honest innocent interpretation loaded with love and warmth! Ms. Papaya is so transparent in her dealings and saying.
I too found both my Aaji’s (from my mother’s and father’s side) soft and supple. And recently I was amazed to see my daughter cuddling up to my mother because she felt her Aaji is soft like “loni”. All Aajis are stuff made of “loni” or play-doh I suppose!
