Welcome to my world.

My blog is one place where I can be myself without worrying about my voice being too loud, my laugh too raucous or my ideas too weird.

The Tale of the Two-Timing Tick-Tock

When we were growing up, a watch or clock made a sound that went Tick-Tock. And as babies, we were told that all watches went tick-tock.

However, modern watches do not go tick-tock, and yet we call them tick-tocks.

Hubby Dear who loves collecting watches realised that he had to keep his watches wound all the time so that the mechanism was kept in good shape.

T is for TickTock

One day, I found Wow Dinga walking about the house,  shaking both his hands. I was wondering what kind of a new game he had invented and asked him what on earth he was doing.

I was amazed and bewildered when he said, “Tick-tock, Abu do.”

Tick-tock Abu do?
What did Abu do to bring forth such a mysterious comment?

I then realised that he was indeed copying his grandfather who wore his automatic watches over the weekend ( one on each wrist) and wound them by shaking his wrists.

That’s when I  realised that he could not wear more than one watch at a time and needed a  watchwinder.

I hope you are enjoying these little vignettes from my life with the Little People.

Ciao

  3. Loving your series. I haven’t wound a watch for ages which of course means that they are probably unusable now. I’ve stopped wearing watches as the smartphone does it all!
