Twenty- five Seven

Personally speaking

B is for Banging Pots

What we did

On may it was a lovely sunny day. We had all survived days of CoVid and felt that the end was near .

So our Government decided that the entire nation should get together, come out on the streets or verandahs or balconies and bang our pots .

Why we did it

Ostensibly it was to cheer on the health workers and appreciate their tireless efforts in keeping us safe .

What it did

But did it send the Corona virus packing ? Obviously not .

But the one lesson I learnt from this was that there is Unity in Adversity and that a simple exercise like banging pots can generate cheer and hope in an otherwise dreary situation .

So there you have my second lesson learnt in the times of Corona .

Do leave your comments in the box below and see you tomorrow.

Ciao

  1. Good, you are chronicling these strange times, our themes are the same but from different points of view. I am here from AtoZ

    1. Yes. I thought that even though Corona is on everyone’s mind, each person will react to it differently. And that’s interesting in itself isn’t it?

  2. That is a great way to look at the exercise I am now embarrassed about being part of. Lol!

  3. This is nostalgic too, Sunita! I remember this time last year when the entire nation came together as one force. It was lovely to see the unity in diversity in full display. Looking forward to your posts. :) #BlogchatterA2Z

  5. Oh I remember this too well! Do you also recall the diya movement? My husband went overboard and lit a bunch of them. The banging of plates was ok, but the whatapp forwards about the so called scientific reasons were hilarious!

    1. Oh yes we did the Diya’s too . I think it was more for a lark than actually believing the virus would go away . It did make for a lot of laughs as you said

      1. I know! I kept laughing at my husband’s enthusiasm. But the joke was on me, I had to clean all the oily diyas later :) LOL

    1. Yes . I did more than bang pots – I actually started using them to cook as my cook couldn’t come :( thanks for appreciating my blog . My old one ‘s domain expired and the old URL points to a porno site . This shocked me no end ! So I had to change completely

More than having an effect on the virus, the act touched the chords of hearts. The sight of the whole nation getting together to cheer the frontline warriors was heartwarming. May we keep up the spirit of Unity in Diversity in the future too.

    1. Yes it is important to remember that we are all humans in the same boat …. and I agree with you about being Indian. I feel a shiver down my spine when I think that we are all doing something as ONE

  9. You time travelled me, Sunita. I can vividly see myself along with my kids standing near balcony, clapping and banging plates with spoon. This indeed brought some cheer, some hope though short lived.

    1. Yes isn’t it strange how we all thought everything would get back to normal in 4 weeks then 8 weeks and now it is a year and we are still back to square one :(

  10. I hadn’t heard of that. I saw the Italians on their balconies singing–a similar idea. We are a community species, aren’t we.
