Sometime ago, I can’t remember when, I found that a number of my blogger friends had switched to SUBSTACK. So I joined SUBSTACK. But then I kind of felt like I’d betrayed WordPress so I didn’t really bother with the new platform.
However, this morning I met a friend at the Gym who was all praise for Substack. And more than just praise, she threw me a challenge – to write a post everyday for a month on Substack and share it with her. So if you go to Substack, you will find me there for the rest of February.
A New Friend
Actually, over the weekend, I accidentally discovered a new friend . The AI assistant on Jetpack. For years I’d struggled with increasing my audience. After Write Tribe disbanded, Indiblogger shut shop and I just lost interest in Blogadda since I stopped hosting my own site with a paid subscription, the numbers dwindled to a single digit. Gradually, they grew to 38 but this was only because subscribers were WordPress Readers .
What happened to my friend who were really my target audience ?
They complained that there was no way they could subscribe to the blog.
So I finally asked AI and got my answer. But more than the answer, I enjoyed the ‘dialogue’ with the robot. It not only seemed so human, but was indulgent and caring and made me feel that it really understood my predicament. It appreciated my humour and I felt like I was talking to a real live human. I signed off feeling happy and cheerful . I had a new friend!
It was only when I shut down the machine did I realise that it was a robot !
Such are the perils of Artificial Intelligence. It seems so authentic and real that one can get seduced into developing a relationship with it.
Scary isn’t it ?
Ciao
