Or why it’s so difficult to see a West End show in Bombay
Today I hope to see the much hyped West End production Jeeves & Wooster that’s playing at the NCPA. Hope is the operative word because the tickets to this show have been gifted to me by Daughter No 1.
Daughter No 1 tried to #BookMyShow online but her credit card was rejected because it wasn’t issued by a bank in India.
So we went to NCPA but were turned away because tickets for the play were not being sold at the Box Office but ONLY on line through #BookMyShow.
So she asked Anna Shetty to buy them on her behalf which she duly did.
Now once the purchase was made we had to get the tickets because the scan code on the e-receipt wasn’t a valid entry pass.
But we also found out that to collect the tickets we had to ensure that the Credit Card holder was present or at least the Credit Card presented with a letter from the holder authoring the ticket presenter to attend the show!!!!
Now isn’t that a sure way to NOT see a West End show?
Does this also mean that ?
- Only Credit Card holders can #BookMyShow?
- Only people with an Internet connection can #BookMyShow?
- You cannot gift a ticket on #BookMyShow?
Now if that isn’t discriminatory than what is ?
Shame on you #BookMyShow! Shame !
Update
This morning Daughter No 1 had to run across the road to collect the signed NOC and credit card from Anna Shetty who was on her way to a scheduled surgery slated for 8 am ( poor patient was fasting for 12 hours).
I now have to make another trip to NCPA and exchange the e-receipt for the Real Ticket after which I can see the show.
Will I see the play? I’ll keep you posted
