Personally speaking

A good cup of coffee #MondayMusings

There’s really nothing like a good cup of coffee especially in the middle of the afternoon on a Monday like today. This has been a luxury I haven’t really had for many months so when J called to ask if we could meet, I jumped at the chance.

There were several options open to us

  • coffee at the Club ( done too often) ,
  • coffee at Moshe ( also done often enough ),
  • coffee at home ( That’s a no no)
  • coffee at Costa Coffee ( who wants to climb the stairs)
  • coffee anywhere else ( too far to walk and no place to park)

so we decided to go to di Bella the (now not so) new coffee place at Vama, the once uber swank Department store where one could get shapeless Benetton Ts and imported perfumes. Now that there are more Malls in Mumbai than there are perfumes, no one goes to Vama unless they want to have a coffee at di Bella.

So the two of us wandered to the back of the shop and found a place which allowed us to talk about stuff as light as the froth on my cappuccino.

And we spent an hour sipping and gossiping and lightening our hearts : talking about things that were inconsequential, recalling instances from the past and sharing experiences that made us wiser. It was an afternoon well spent.

What is it about a cup of coffee or even tea that makes you feel better? Or for that matter, the glass of wine or a  jug of beer? Is it the beverage that you quaff or the fact that you’re away from it all in  the middle of the day that makes you feel relaxed?

It’s nice to have the cup that cheers and nicer still to have a friend with whom you can share it .

  3. I had yesterday off from work and was able to spend time with a friend over a cup of coffee. Yes, sharing food or beverages with someone opens the door to a type of sharing – don’t know why, but it has always been true.
