Personally speaking

Cold Moon Shining

As night falls and the sky darkens

a cold moon climbs upwards

bathing the world

witb a chilly incandescent

Silver light.

I lie upon my empty bed

with memories of what we shared

once , long ago

before the cold moon shining raised its head.

I wonder if the dawn of day

will bring a change of heart

a change of thought

And dispel the winter chill that grips my soul

with cold moon shining in the dark.

    1. Memories can warm the heart and also chill the bone. I suppose that’s the beauty of life …

  3. So true. Memories can be a double edged sword, although I prefer to have a load than none.

  4. Strange but I have never regarded moon as cold. Your words now make me wonder… cold nights brightened by a cold moon… colder can be the memories… Loved your write and all the emotions it evokes..

    1. Thanks for your words of appreciation. I too normally associate the moon with happy feelings especially this full moon which we consider “kojagiri” the night when the moon is closest to the earth and the Goddess Laxmi comes around asking who is awake . We stay up late and welcome her with almond milk and the house ablaze with lights . But this time far away in the US, I found it cold and chilling. Strange isn’t it ?
