Are you a wino or a whino?
A good glass of wine adds to the flavour of the food . If it goes down well, it even improves your mood . You feel a bit fuzzy in the head which is fine if you’re not at the wheel because sometimes you need a little something that takes of the sharp edges of life.
No, I’m not advocating the use of substances to tackle those blues or dips in your life – just suggesting that it will serve you well to occasionally share your woes with some one .
Keeping your problems to yourself can be injurious simply because you keep thinking about them all the time . A small little irritant can become a huge big boulder , like a pimple that turns into a huge festering boil. Why wait for such a thing to happen ? Just indulge in a good bout of self pity rather than brushing it under the carpet.
It’s good to vent and feel sorry for oneself. After all if you don’t feel sorry for yourself who will?
But in this wonderful pity party where you are the sole guest, you must remember that no one loves a whiner. While there are some people who love hearing out your sad stories, the fascination for your misery dies the moment it becomes a regular feature .
“It’s all right to sit on your pity pot every now and again. Just be sure to flush when you are finished”. ~ Debbie Macomber
So how does one flush out the pity?
Unfortunately, print media is no longer fashionable but reading the Obituaries and the Agony Aunt columns was the best way to stop feeling sorry for yourself . Seeing the solemn faces of the newly departed always made me feel good about myself . Thank God I’m still alive !
Look out the window and feel happy that you are NOT out there but safely ensconced in your own little bubble.
Call up a friend who you know is going through a tough time . Being her sounding board will help her and help you realise that your life is not so bad. It also makes you realise that we all have problems .
Remember your experience is unique . Sharing it is essential.
