Why should you do a gratitude post?
I often wonder why I should do a Gratitude Post. Doesn’t it sound a bit like bragging ? And when I was little we were encouraged to keep things under wraps, downplay our successes and keep a low profile lest we attract the evil and envious eyes of those who have nothing to be thankful about .
But over the years, I’ve observed that I was wrong. Here are 3 reasons why everyone should do a gratitude post.
Inspire and motivate others with your life
Life could be much worse.
All of us have bad moments. But when you sit down to enumerate what you are grateful for, you realise that things could have been much worse!
So now that the month is over, it’s time for me to do a #GratitudePost.
- Food : The month of May reminds me that the sweetness of Mango is all too fleeting and we have to cherish those mango days. I am indeed grateful that this year the mangoes were sweet and plenty. And I am grateful that I could find the time and energy to make my annual pickles and chutneys.
- Blogging : I actually saw an increase in numbers in footfalls, engagment and subscribers! And wonder of wonders I actually got recognition from Blogger Directories. Mumbai On A High was mentioned at No. 15 in Feedspot’s Top Mumbai Blogs. My blog also got a mention in Best Indian Blogs. I can’t thank my readers enough for visiting my blog!
- Personal Life : Normally the domestic help vanish in May and I have to sweat it out in physically as well as metaphorically. I am grateful that this year, all hands were on board and I could actually enjoy a quiet summer. While the rest of India sweats it out with power cuts and water shortages, I am grateful that I could have the fan whir all month long and I could have my daily bath. I am grateful for the wonderful time I had with my friends over the last weekend of this month. Very few have the luxury of holidaying with old friends and I am indeed grateful that all of us could meet when we did. It might be a silly reason to be grateful for , but the fact that Hubby Dear actually agreed accompany me to a movie and enjoyed it makes me truly grateful. ‘Raazi’. is a movie I’d strongly recommend to everyone. I am grateful that I could spend yet another happy wedding anniversary with my family and enjoy the company of my grandchildren. Strange as it may sound, I am grateful for my grandsons’ voicing of their disapproval of me and vowing never to come to my house again. I am grateful for their ingratitude as it reminded me that I can’t always be the No. 1 in a toddler’s life and I’d better accept it!
Finally, after all the ups and downs of these past few months, May has been very normal, calm and almost humdrum . But, for its sheer ordinariness, I am truly grateful.
I hope your month was happy.
