In today’s era of marketing, branding is of prime importance. The bitten Apple in silhouette, the coloured letters of Google, the Three pronged star of Mercedes, these are just a few of the brands that are instantly recognised by their logo. After all, with so many products crowding the market, there has to be a way of making your brand stand out.
And what better way than a unique LOGO?
How to design a logo the easy way
I have often wondered how bloggers like Corinne ( everydaygyaan) VidyaSury ( Vidyasury.com), and Shalini of Shalzmojo.in have such nifty logs. And being computer illiterate and parsimonious to boot, I’ve only wondered and wondered.
Like most bloggers, I experimented and explored the possibility of designing a logo on a free online site. Canva seemed a logical option but got myself tied up in knots simply because I never managed to get a block of time to work things out. However, over several days, these are the logos I came up with using their templates and options for changing colours, fonts etc.
I wasn’t too thrilled with these logos. They seemed to lack something.
[bctt tweet=”But it seems that the Universe was listening to my request and earlier this month I got an offer that was hard to resist . DESIGNEVO approached me to try out their online logo design site.” username=”viaunishta”]
At first I was hesitant. Time is something I don’t really have and I was apprehensive about spending even more time online. ( My family considers the internet the biggest disruption in our life).
However, I’m a real sucker for trying out new stuff and eventually I decided I should give it a shot.
The first question was : what should my logo be? Should I continue with the gerberas that I had randomly chosen as my Gravatar? Or should I choose one of the 100’s of design templates on the site? Since I couldn’t find the original file of the gerberas in my photofiles, I decided to start on a new logo from scratch
- I went up to the website and registered for a free account via Facebook.
- Then I went to the web site and followed the directions on how to get a free logo.
- After you click on to the home page, you will get a screen shot like this
As you can see it is very easy to choose what you want. With a host of categories to choose from just go for what describes your website best.
Since I have a very broad genre ( lifestyle, travel, photos, food, parenting, reviews, opinions) I can’t really decide what represents me best. So I thought I’d go with the flower motif closest to the gerbera that I use as my Gravatar.
- Once you choose the template, you will get a screen shot like this :
- Then you can choose the background, the icon, the shape, the text and play around with fonts, typefaces, colours etc to get what you want.
- Or you can choose a template choosing from one of the many that you can find in the first Screenshot, and then play around with that!
These are the logs that I came up with

You can gave a great time designing your own logo as DesignEvo has lots of graphics, templates, fonts etc to choose from.
And once you have decided your logo, you can download it and use it for whatever you want -your website, your visiting card and establish your brand.
I had a lot of fun trying out the different templates, icons, fonts, typefaces and designs. I could save them all too so that I could decide which was the best for me.
Finally, when all was done, I downloaded the logo and la voila : here is my new logo.
Now doesn’t that look great?
