Cleaning up

Did you know that  Mumbai generates 8700 tonnes of solid waste every day? That is a lot of garbage to collect.

And it is equally hazardous for the conservation staff clearing up the mess.

To streamline the collection process, the Municipality has introduced waste segregation and severe penalties to those flouting the rules.

Seeing the crows picking up garbage one day, Ms Papaya came up with a novel idea.

Why doesn’t the Municipality employ crows to clean up the garbage?

That way men won’t have to get their hands dirty.

It doesn’t seem a bad idea to tackle our garbage solution, isn’t it?

  1. I suspect the crows will be very selective about their pickings.

Us humans, on the other hand, are quite indiscriminate about our ‘droppings’😁

  3. Crows can be little helpers if they don’t dive into trash and make bigger mess.

  4. Absolutely brilliant idea. Rather BMC should employ different types of birds who would feast on the garbage and thus save a lot of manhours. It is such a symbiotic relationship!
Bravo young chap. More power to your brain cells.

  5. If they are anything like the seagull we have to put up with, they’ll leave more mess than they found when they start pecking at the garbage sacks! Perhaps they could be trained though.

  6. Well manual scavenging should have ended years ago. Don’t know if they could employ crows!

  9. The comment I left yesterday seems to have disappeared so I’ll start again! You have crows, we have seagulls and whilst they love pecking plastic sacks and helping themself to garbage they are quite selective about what they keep and leave a terrible mess their wake!
