Old Men have No Hair

As mentioned in earlier posts Ms. Papaya has a fascination with hair or the lack of it. All three are equally fascinated with death and old age.

They keep asking me questions about how old I am. Or how old will I be when they are 10 or so. They ask if I will have my teeth, whether my legs will pain and all sorts of questions that don’t make Old Age a very attractive propposition.

One day Ms. Papaya had lunch with Little Po and his other grandfather ( whom she adores). After dinner when they were listening to their afternoon tale, very unabashedly, she looked up and p0inted to Abu’s head.

The poor man was trying to think of a suitable answer when Little Po piped up

“ NOTHING! He has NO hair because he’s OLD!”

While Abu’s hair has thinned because he has aged, it was definitely not flattering for someone who isn’t doddering and still cuts a handsome figure in his Operating Theatre.

Do you think the loss of hair is the result of old age? Do all old men have no hair?

Ciao

  1. I guess old age and hair loss not related. But children see the world as it is. So ok with them :)

  2. Hahaha! I am imagining Abu’s look!
Kids are fascinated with old age and may have some strange notions about it. Our neighbor’s son is forever asking questions about death of his grandparents (who are hale and hearty). And this is when he hast seen any death and his parents and grandparents share a lovely relationship.

  3. Poor Abu!
Gone are the days of people getting bald due to age. I know many who prefer a clean-shaven head rather than a patchy one at a young age. Bald is bold these days. And then there are some who suffer from Alopecia. I know of a boy who turned bald due to Alopecia at the age of 10. Now he is blossoming into a young handsome teen who hardly bothers about his bald head.

  5. I’m loving these tales, Unishta. Ilakkiya always reasons old age as the reason to not be able to do something. Luckily, she hasn’t seen bald heads till now. It’s the teeth that fascinates her. When my grandmother, her great-grandmother, says she cannot have something because she has no teeth, Ilakkiya responds by telling, she is old so she cannot eat all that she gives. She imitates how they walk and how they talk.

  7. Yikes! Children can be brutally honest. Nope, old age isn’t the only reason. The actual reason is in the genes. But we do have many solutions these days.
