• Not being from this part of the world, I have no idea of what a February sky in New Jersey is normally like .

The skies have been quite cloudy especially at sunrise so I was lucky to capture this shot .

And later on the whole sky turned into a gorgeous red gold .

But this is what the sky has been for the most part , overcast and grey.

I do hope the skies in your part of the world are blue and sunny.

  • Snow on bare branches has an ethereal feel.

While snow on a evergreen looks gorgeous too!

  • Dining in the Princeton area can be a delight as there are many quaint upscale restaurants around . Daughter No 1 who is as fond of good food as I am found the award winning Brick Farm Tavern which serves modern American cuisine made from local produce . Ever since she made this discovery she has been dying to introduce me to the place . But we weren’t really interested in the whole fine dining experience and preferred to sample a light meal of soup and sandwiches instead at the equally popular cafe further down the road in Hopewell. NJ

There was snow on the ground still and I was glad to get inside the cozy warmth of the cafe which had a simple no-nonsense air about it . With long tables occupying the central space , the cafe had counters alongside selling fresh local produce like lettuce with roots and squash.

There were shelves selling healthy organic snack foods , exotic teas and ice creams and counters where you could order your meal options from .

And on the mezzanine was a delicatessen selling cheeses and meats from around the world.

The cafe also makes its own cheese .

    Our meal

A friend of Daughter No 1 was joining us with her daughter so we ordered a cappuccino and a chive scone while we waited Scones seemed to be very popular as this was the last one standing !

Ms Papaya had a Mac n Cheese while I had an “El Jefe” Short Rib Sandwich which was a ciabatta made with shredded braised beef, sauteed onions, smashed avocado, carrot-jalapeno relish.

Daughter No 1 had an All-American Burger made from grass-fed burger, american cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, special sauce

We rounded this off with a sinfully rich lemon panacotta and a frosted cranberry cup cake

I must admit that it was all a bit too much to eat and I actually skipped my dinner and ate the cupcake the next day.
