One  that makes Daddy drool as much as Baby?

But chances are that you aren’t either of the two . You are just another mummy who has too many things to do and too little time to do them. You probably barely get time to brush your teeth and run a comb through your hair .

    • Keep a simple hair style that doesn’t require blow drying, setting or anything more complicated than running your fingers through it. A pony tail is ideal if you like your hair long .
    • And if you keep your hair short, remember to get it regularly trimmed.

Your hands are busy all the time doing work or washing up. Take care of them.

    • Moisturise your hands with a good hand cream after your bath. This will keep them soft.
    • Remember to keep your nails short and filed if your children are small as long nails are not only impractical but also difficult to maintain if you are a hands on mom
    • Make sure your nail polish isn’t chipped. In fact it’s better to apply plain nail varnish just to give your nails a healthy sheen

    Feet are important too

At the end of the day, I at least feel like taking off my legs and hanging them on a peg . Instead, I always give myself a foot massage with a regular body cream. Nothing fancy. But honestly, this prevents my feet from developing unsightly cracks and keeps them soft and supple all year long. Besides, I save myself the hassle of going to the beauty parlour.

Splash some cologne to keep you cool and fresh or use a scented talcum powder after a bath. Always spritz some deodorant.

  • After a long time, I was excited by the Friday prompt. It brought back memories of my school days when we only wrote by hand . And we only wrote by pen.

We actually filled book after book of Marion Richardson’s  writing patterns so that we got the perfect letters while writing Cursive.

Believe it or not, my handwriting used to look like this

Today, I’ve actually written after a long, long time and this is how my handwriting looks now :

Well, I can see my old teachers cringe at this shabby piece of handwriting.

I definitely won’t win the Handwriting Prize for this one, will I? What did you think of this example of my handwriting?

Have you also stopped writing by hand? Do you  use an ink pen with a nib? I’d love to hear from you in the comments.

  • Yet another Friday and it’s the middle of the month already. Before long, half the year will be over and I still haven’t begun many of my New Year Resolutions. I have to learn to do things differently if I want to get even halfway there.

Doing things in a different way, today I bring you another part of my Bombay sky.

From the Bottom of Babulnath Temple

This is the sky from the bottom of the Temple at Babulnath dedicated to Lord Shiva.

Babulnath is a Shiva Temple on top of the hill that forms part of Mumbai’s famous Malabar Hill.  And at one time, it’s spires could be seen for quite a distance as the tallest in the vicinity. Today, however, despite being on top of the hill, it is dwarfed by the numerous skyscrapers and even though I see it from my balcony, I often wonder for how long.

The spire in this photo belongs to another temple at the bottom of the hill. This  temple is dedicated to Shrinathji another form of Lord Krishna.
The temple of Babulnath , it is said , was built after a humble cowherd named Babla dreamed of a ‘shivling crying out to be rescued from his underground trap.
Babla listened to this cry and the rescued shivling was installed in a temple that is known as Babulnath or Babla’s Lord .

In another story, Babula the cowherd noticed one of the cows he tended pour her milk out at a particular spot every day. When he reported this to his master, they followed the cow to this spot . They found that she was pouring out her milk on a shivling.

The present temple was built round this shivling.
I don’t exactly know if the present shivling is the original one but I do know that every Monday there are hundreds of devotees climbing up the hill to offer their prayers to Lord Shiva.
As usual there is a lot of hustle and bustle on the top with devotees pouring milk, offering flowers , making half rounds as they say their prayers.

Mondays in the month of Shravan are particularly chaotic as also on Mahashivratri.

Another view of the gold topped spire of Shrinathji’s temple at the bottom of Babulnath.

For those who don’t know, the shivling is a symbolic representation of the cosmic energy of Lord Shiva, one of the Holy Trinity of Hinduism.
