Papaya is perfect for ladies who lunch

If you are one of those South Mumbai ladies who lunch , looking for a suitable place,then Pa Pa Ya is just the place for you. Especially if you like Asian. Jiggs Kalra’s restaurant that opened in Palladium Mall in September last year already has a fan following , seeing the number of well heeled ladies who literally filled up the place in minutes of its opening at noon.

Molecular gastronomy and Papaya

I had heard of molecular biology but molecular gastronomy was something new to me. I was surprised when the waiter brought along two ‘amuse bouche’ to titilate and tantalise our palates and imagination with a frothy foam infusion of basil and lemongrass, cleverly hiding a ball of chilled watermelon .”Molecular gastronomy ” explained the waiter who understood my puzzled looks.

By now my interest was totally aroused and I was looking forward to the sushi and dimsums we had ordered

Garnished with a sprinkling if fresh watercress, this delightful California roll was decorated swirls of wire thin slivers of beetroot.
A generous portion of salmon sushi.
The yummiest suimai i’ve had so far. Warm and succulent with corn fed chicken . Slightly pungent.
The only disappointment in our selection was the crispy fried corn curd. With a coating too thick and crunchy, I was particularly put off by the dot of sauce that looked distinctly like tomato ketchup! The side salad of sprouts was the saving grace though.

All in all it was a great lunch though we didn’t go beyond the appetisers. The food was tasty , the service polite and the overall ambience pleasant – casual yet chic dining .

Undoubtedly this bouche was totally amused especially on a wet and dreary afternoon.
Disconnected #MondayMusings

For those who’ve been wondering about my absence , let me tell you that I’ve been disconnected from my Virtual World because of computer burn out .

When I jabbed the on/off button of my computer, it remained stubbornly unmoved and repeated jabbings refused to bring it back to life.

Not only did this send me into mourning but also left me disconnected. I do have the option of blogging on my mobile but my wifi connectivity is iffy which makes it quite a frustrating experience especially if you want to add images, links etc.

Of course my trusty computerwallah hop skipped it to my place but the incessant rains in Mumbai has hampered regular movements ….. You know the story don’t you?

So that explains my enforced silence this week .

A Shoppers’ Paradise

Shopaholics like Becky Bloomwood will loveThe Mall of Dubai . While Becky is imaginary, the mall is not, and is a living testament to how a desert can become home to luxury brands and luxurious living. I must confess that I’m not a great shopper – my motto is ” a fool and his money are soon parted”. But I am not fool. However since no visit to Dubai is complete without a trip to the Mall of Dubai I just had to go. And, I would gladly recommend it to any visitor to the area. Apart from its sheer size and magnitude , the air conditioning is top class and it is a great place to hang out in to avoid the blistering heat.

When I visited Dubai last year, I was literally gob smacked. The large aquarium in the centre of the Mall is situated bang opposite a candy store. I was torn between the two. Which one should I visit? Since I didn’t have much time, I visited the candy shop instead but would advise everyone to visit the aquarium instead. ( Yes, another Ivy Moment).

Ever since I returned, I’ve been meaning to showcase the photographs but with one thing leading to another, they just remained in my folders. Finally, I discovered MetaSlider, a nifty plugin for WordPress and I’m trying to use it. Some of the photographs aren’t aligned properly and I am trying to figure out how to use them. However, I assure you, that when you do visit the Mall, you definitely won’t find it upside down!
