• I’ve just discovered this wonderful website called CANVA which allows you to create great graphics. This is just another attempt at keeping my mind agile and my thoughts happy.

There are wonderful websites out there in the virtual world that can teach you so many things you thought you could only learn when you were young and in University. But truly the internet has revolutionised knowledge making it accessible to all. Most web sites offer tutorials that are easy enough to follow and within minutes you can become a champ!

All you really need is uninterrupted electricity, a good high speed internet , time and patience.

  • Today I am completely disgusted with the way our politicians are behaving. I am also disgusted with the way the Press is behaving and frankly I am disgusted with the way my fellow countrymen are behaving.

    Consider this :

    1) Communalism has been brought into politics way before Independence – the Round Table Conferences to which the British Govt. invited Indians to participate in consisted of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs and Christians. But even though Mr. Modi was not born at that time, Communalism in Politics has been attributed to him.

    2) Since Independence there are hardly any constituencies that can claim to have basic infrastructure, education or health services – yet the Congress and other non-BJP parties claim that THEY are the ones that stand for progress and democracy.

    3) Every other party save the BJP believes in dynastic succession but only the BJP is considered dictatorial and non-democratic.

    4) India has had riots before Mr. Modi was born and in States not governed by him or his party, yet ALL rioting, communal strife etc are attributed to Mr. Modi.

    5) Sonia Gandhi claims that Mr. Modi is interested only in the PM’s chair.  She is honestly not interested in sitting in the chair her self but standing behind the person who sits in it. Similarly,  all the other political parties claim that they have no personal interest in ruling the country , they are in politics – Arvind Kejriwal infact propagates Anarchy.

    6) Thanks to the licence Raj, the Congress and other parties have rewarded their supporters with permissions to develop and grow their own industries but that is not called crony capitalism.

While the Congress is the mother of all evils, the  AAP is no better. Under the guise of being Robin Hood and Saviours of the Nation, they are in fact the real devils.

Arvind Kejriwal claims he is not interested in the PM’s Chair. In fact he is not interested in governing at all – he is only interested in promoting anarchy.
Arvind Kejriwal claims to be against corruption and will not support the BJP but will support all other parties like  TMC, Jaya , Maya, Mulayam, Laloo and every other party that is not “corrupt”. Will Mr. Kejriwal please define what is his idea of corruption?
Arvind Kejriwal claims that he does not believe in symbolism so pray why did he take a dip in the Ganges like a traditional Hindu?

Govt by  Rota; Govt by Quota

As a staunch supporter of the BJP, I feel that the country does not deserve to have a government led by Mr. Modi. We are a country that thrives on indiscipline, corruption, rabble rousing and hand outs. We do not deserve basic amenities like good roads, a proper health and education system and an economy that lets everyone enjoy the fruits of his labour.

Let us pray for the defeat of the BJP so that we are governed by a motley assortment of parties who play musical chairs every month  – and we have Government by Rota and Quota.

Let us pray that we continue to rot at the bottom of the pile and wonder why we can’t be like China or Vietnam or Malaysia or Korea.

Sadly, we the people of India do NOT deserve a proper government that is efficient and works for the people. We deserve what we get – let us vote for crap and crappy politicians.

  • I’m glad today is Mother’s Day because finally radio shows will stop asking for memories of mummies, newspapers and magazines will stop featuring syrupy sweet stories, anecdotes of mothers and children, stores and restaurants will stop offering special discounts for mothers and their won’t be any competitions or contests asking for what makes your mother special.

I particularly hate Mother’s Day even though I have a terrific mother because I don’t see why there should be a special day dedicated to all mothers. I call my mother up every day, sometimes twice a day or even more depending on whether I need advice or a shoulder to cry on but this is my own choice:  we should all remember our mothers the way we choose to and if we choose not to, I don’t see why it should bother the rest of the world.

I’m sure my own children have their own memories of me which they’d rather forget :

    • Like the time I ran to school in the clothes that I was wearing because I heard there was a bomb blast somewhere.
    • Like the time  they had to wear the clothes I made for them because I enjoyed sewing (and not because we could nor afford a tailor or readymades).
    • Like the time they felt embarrassed that they had no dedicated nannies because I preferred looking after them myself.
    • Like the times I made them walk, take them to the vegetable/fish market or even come home by bus because I wanted them to get a feel of the real world.
    • Like the times they had simple birthday parties unlike the fancy theme parties of their friends because I enjoyed helping them with the decorations and party favours, not to mention the home made food
    • Like the times I refused to let them watch TV and insisted they read instead.
    • Like the times I refused to let them go for sleepovers or have friends over.
    • Like the times I insisted they don’t miss a day of school or a piano lesson or badminton class just because they didn’t feel like going.
    • Like the hundreds of times I refused to help them with their school projects
    • Like the times the only choice they had was “This” or nothing
    • Like the times I refused to let them wear make up when they were little or have boy friends.
These are just some of the reasons why my children would rather not remember me as their mother but then I am not alone. There are lots of children who think their mothers are weird, who don’t understand them, who are not fashionable enough or cool enough, who are not indulgent and the list can go on and on and on and it is only when their mother is no more that they think she was wonderful!
So in the light of these ambiguous feelings, Mother’s Day is just a farce, just another overhyped commercialised holiday.
But to all those Mothers of the world – hope you had a happy day : not because it’s Mother’s Day but because today is a Sunday.
