Welcome to my world.

My blog is one place where I can be myself without worrying about my voice being too loud, my laugh too raucous or my ideas too weird.

Personally speaking

Where are the donkeys?

Children have a different way of processing information. Often when we talk, we forget that more often than not, they often take things literally.

Once, I was driving along Marine Drive with the Little People. It was peak hour traffic and I had to get home before their dinner time. The kids were tired and restless and I was testy.

Suddenly a group of pedestrians jumped over the road divider even though it wasn’t their signal and came dangerously in front of my car.

Naturally, I pressed the brakes and came to a halt. As it is, I was going at a crawl and was irritated by this further delay. I couldn’t, however, hide my irritation and remembering my Little People, refrained from using stronger language and just said, “What donkeys they are!”

Immediately, Little Po and Ms. Papaya looked around and asked where the Donkeys were. I explained to them that the people were like donkeys hence I called them so.

But when they went home, they excitedly told their mothers that they saw some donkeys on the road!

Ciao

  1. Donkeys with two legs and no tail, that must have been a real amusement for the little people.
I am loving this light-hearted, innocent, tongue in cheek series from you Sunita.

  6. Such a sweet memory to share, Unishta. My about to be 3 year old does this. Literally. Once I bought home a flower pot and asked her where must I keep it, and she replied, you must keep it down only, ma. Since I did not ask her where in the house I must keep it, she answered so it seems! Adorable, ain’t it? I will love these stories shared by you!
