Children have a different way of processing information. Often when we talk, we forget that more often than not, they often take things literally.
Once, I was driving along Marine Drive with the Little People. It was peak hour traffic and I had to get home before their dinner time. The kids were tired and restless and I was testy.
Suddenly a group of pedestrians jumped over the road divider even though it wasn’t their signal and came dangerously in front of my car.
Naturally, I pressed the brakes and came to a halt. As it is, I was going at a crawl and was irritated by this further delay. I couldn’t, however, hide my irritation and remembering my Little People, refrained from using stronger language and just said, “What donkeys they are!”
Immediately, Little Po and Ms. Papaya looked around and asked where the Donkeys were. I explained to them that the people were like donkeys hence I called them so.
But when they went home, they excitedly told their mothers that they saw some donkeys on the road!
Ciao
