• I had wanted to post this on Monday, the very first day of the year but I also decided to follow my word for the year which is CALM .

If it comes, let it come. If it goes, it’s ok, let it go. Let things come and go. Stay calm, don’t let anything disturb your peace, and carry on.

Part of being calm is doing things in an unhurried way so I didn’t want to rush into writing and posting on a Monday simply because it HAD to be done.

2018 will be the year when I will (hopefully) consolidate all my learning of the past year and finally have what I think is the perfect blog .

I have been writing and posting almost every day the last year and this year I plan on being more serious with #FlavoursomeTuesday. This is a weekly initiative that my blogger friend Shilpa of Metanoia is co-hosting with me . We invite you to share your foodie memories with the hashtag #FlavoursomeTuesday . I invite you all to participate to make this a success.

I will not participate in the April A to Z Challenge this year because it makes little difference to my traffic or Alexa rankings.

In fact I will concentrate on improving my content , making it a more meaningful and interactive experience for my readers.

The main focus of my blogging activity is to tie up all loose ends and get everything back on track. Now that I’ve navigated these waters, I know exactly what I want .

I also want to experiment more with increasing my social media presence especially in that new favourite platform – #Instagram.

So here’s to a productive and successful year of blogging .

I welcome your suggestions and advice ….

What is your blogging goal for 2018? Would love to know in the comments below.

  • This may sound like a story from #Ripley’s Believe it or not but I assure you, it’s true.

Many years ago Batman came to our house .

Well not exactly Batman as in Bruce Wayne ….. but as Batman the Bat who lives on the Tree.

Yes , believe it or not , but this is a true story.

It all happened one morning when we found one banana missing .

“Who ate a banana? ” thundered FIL who zealously guards the bananas as he once did the Indian border.

“Banana? In the night? ” countered me .

“I only ate ONE banana yesterday,” whimpered Anna Shetty who shared her grandpa’s passion for bananas

“I can’t STAND them,” muttered Daughter No. 1 with disdain.

    “Then where is the banana?”

“Oh just forget it, ” said MIL the family peacemaker , ” Why don’t you eat another one ? There still are five aren’t they? ”

Totally unconvinced, he did eat another banana but wondered who had eaten the missing banana.

The next day, we found another banana missing . And this went on for a week. With each missing banana our curiosity increased. Who was our nocturnal banana thief?

One morning , we discovered some droppings near the dining table and that gave us a clue .

It wasn’t any of us eating bananas at night but obviously some creature who came in, ate and left . Only , this time round, he was foolish enough to drop a clue.

The next night we happened to catch him in the act – it was a BAT!

That was our banana thief !

Funnily enough, once we discovered the identity, the bat stopped coming to our house.

Was he/she just playing a game with us and then moved on to the next house when he was found out ?

    I wonder.

  • I hadn’t really thought about a word of the year but looking back on 2017, I realised that perhaps setting a word for the year, did set the tone for the year ahead .

My word of the year for 2017 patience and I think I pretty much was patient for the most part .

So logically , I should continue with this mellow mood and choose a word that takes this further . I choose CALM as my #woty.

I need to be calm or at least more calm. Unexpected events tend to fluster me and when I get upset, I lose my balance . I make irrational decisions and make mistakes .

So I need to be calm .

There are times in life when people annoy me , irritate me , impose their ideas and thoughts on me . At such times I need to be calm.

As the last few hours of 2017 slip into 2018 I feel a sense of calm. No longer am I apprehensive about what the year will bring.

    I will be calm.

Events don’t always turn out the way they are meant to be . Disappointment is par for the course . Relationships turn sour and the cake doesn’t always rise .

But I will be calm .

I will find my calm .

I hope all of you do so too!

    Happy New Year !
