There comes a time in your life when you know it is foolish to go on.
Tonight we were scheduled to travel to the States. We had tickets in hand for two flights over 9 hours each with an 8 hour layover in Amsterdam. Since we were travelling with Ms Papaya, a 14 month old, the journey was planned with military precision. Right down to the pickup at the other end with the mandatory car seat.
Two days ago Ms Papaya developed a fever which was worrisome. We thought it was ‘ a case of the erupting tooth’. But to err on the side of caution, we took her to the doctor. She said that we really had no cause for concern and a good dose of anti biotic would allow us to carry on.
We were all ready to print out our boarding passes when we discovered that she still had a fever. Now we were faced with a dilemma : to go or not to go. We decided not to go ahead.
One part of us said ‘NEVER GIVE UP’. The other part whispered ‘fools rush in where angels fear to tread’.
Sorry, dear Winnie. We preferred not to be fools.
Do you dear reader, think we were right to give up?
I’d like to think it was a tactical retreat
Battles have been won at the cost of hundreds of lives. Is it worth never giving up then?
