Lull in a Monsoon Sky #SkywatchFriday

As Kerala is recovering from the devastating floods, I am grateful for this calm monsoon sky in my part of the world.

Last week the rains played havoc in the Southern state of Kerala. One of my schoolmates was rescued from his home after three days of crouching on top of his bookshelf! He drank the rain water that came through his open roof and had a rat and a snake for company.

After being taken to the safety of his cousin’s home he is now back cleaning his house of 4″ of silt. But, as he says, he is one of the lucky ones: there are so many who have been rendered homeless and worse still – dead .

The rains are still not officially over but with Coconut Day coming up, we should be seeing less vigorous activity.

Happy weekend all!

Things are terrible in Kerala with such loss of lives. It tears the heart. Love the Mumbai shot expressing the city’s emotions in all its forms and hues.

Terrible, terrible flooding; we must all realize how interconnected we all are. Storms keep getting worse.
