Well, I’m sure the whole world will agree with me that March was possibly the worst month of the year. At least I hope the coming months are better.
But as usual, there are always lots of things to be grateful for.
Health: Since the march of the virus, health has assumed prime importance in all our lives. In my life too. Despite my awkward movements, I am grateful that I managed to take the Steroid injection in my trigger finger just before the lockdown was imposed. if I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have been able to do half the things I can do now.
I am also grateful that most of my physio was over. I now only have to concentrate on muscle building and strength.
Travel: Hubby Dear and I were supposed to travel to Dubai in the middle of the month. I am really grateful that we cancelled our plans else I would have been stuck belly dancing till now. Moreover, the family left home would have really be left in a soup.
Househelp: Our only live in househelp was actually planning to go on leave early March. I am lucky that she managed to postpone her trip else I would have had to just pray that the house cleans itself.
Friends & Family: At times like this when isolation can get to you, it is wonderful to have tech-savvy friends and relatives who can call you up on the telephone or send cheery messages by WhatsApp.
I am also grateful for that lovely retreat in Alibag where I learnt a technique of meditation that is really coming useful in times like these.
Technology: Which brings me to the greatest boon of all time – technology. I am grateful for all the gadgets and gizmos that make life easier. Thank you for all the machines that work.
Because of the internet, Wow Dinga, Little Po and Ms Papaya could keep up with their school work via online classroom.
Hubby Dear and the rest of the family could also work from home.
This year Wow Dinga turned 7 . But we still managed to have a virtual party where he cut his cake in his own home while all of us sang happy birthday to him from our own homes! Who would have believed this could have ever happened?
For being Indian: Frankly, seeing the way other countries have responded to the virus, I am grateful that I am an Indian. Of course, the worst is yet to come and perhaps we won’t be able to deal with it all that well. But, I am grateful that so far at least, our Government has done all it can to be responsible for its citizens ( or at least trying to do its best).
For life: Finally, in these days, it is enough to be just alive. And if you are comfortable while you are alive, then you have all the more reason to be grateful. So I am really grateful for being where I am these days. In so many ways, I am much better off than several of my countrymen and I am really grateful for that.
So as I await the last few days of March which are supposed to be the worst yet, I am grateful that we’ve got through one phase of the Corona pandemic.
