I’d like to think I’ve been missed these past few days especially since I’ve been having severe with drawl symptoms  without my trusty PC. For the past few days my life had literally come to a stand still with my computer being on the blink. It had actually stopped blinking even and as I found out, had actually melted.

Being one of those dinosaurs, I still find it hard to blog on my iPad and iPhone and actually enjoy banging away on my touch keyboard which I (still after all these years) find a poor substitute for my typewriter. How I miss that instrument  with its ribbons that needed to be changed, the roller , the paper which had to be adjusted so that the typing was not angled up or down, the carriage return and the ting at the end of the line. Unlike the cut and paste option of today, typing was tedious – you had to be accurate because corrections were painful – using a whitener, waiting for it to dry and then carefully aligning the paper so that the letters were typed in the right place. Obviously my indelible memories of this task prove that I have had to do this many times over!

I’ll never forget my niece who was all of four and with her own computer asking me why I wanted to get a PC in the first place. I felt a bit foolish to tell her that I wanted one to replace my manual typewriter and thought it better than an electric typewriter. However, I’m glad that I did get a PC because it has proved to be an invaluable tool and asset, nay even a life line for me!

So from the original 486 and the huge bulky monitor, I’ve finally now graduated to a 17″ flat screen and now the latest Windows 8 OS which I will have to get used to. Actually I’ve always been a gizmo freak and keen on getting the latest technology but was told by my computer engineer that Windows 8 was not half as good as Windows 7. But last week a freak accident whereby my computer just melted inside its tower necessitated the purchase of my new computer complete with a new operating system.

I am grateful that I have Nirav Mehta, a plucky young man who looks after my computer. I’ve always had some glitches or the other before I found Nirav and always tell him that it is his touch that keeps my computer working……..Perhaps his recent re-location is responsible for my computer meltdown????? Thankfully, he is back over the New Year and has managed to get things going once again.

I originally intended to be more regular with my blogs this year and wanted to start with a bang greatly inspired by Corinne’s own decision to dare greatly – sadly I had to wait for 4 days before I could get back on track. But as they say, better late than never so this is my first post for WriteTribe ProBlogger this year . I  look forward to contributing many many more, more regularly……..
